Picture Book | "Book of Mom"

Excerpts from The Book of Mom, a picture book about mother-daughter relationships, based on a few decades of research. 2020.

The Book of Mom was made in a collage style, using watercolored blobs of paper and ink drawings.

These illustrations have been used to create greeting cards.

Photograph of a book called “The Book of Mom by Maddy Buck.” Below the text are two yellow blobs with arms and legs. They seem to be wearing fun hats.
The text says, “From my beginning, you protected me.” The illustration shows two pink blobs, collaged together into what feels like a hug.

Two triangular blobs in pink and collaged are next to each other, both wearing the same colorful shoes. The text says, “Now, I’m not sure who copies who.” The blobs are saying “I got new shoes!” and the other is saying, “ No those are my shoes!”
Photo of two blobs (mother and daughter) talking to each other on the phone.
Illustration shoes two red blobs hugging, and two others cheering each other on.
This is a photo of a greeting card, where the cover shows two blobby red collaged circles, one bigger than the other. The blobs represent a parent and child and we see a little arm going from the big blob to the little blog, as if giving a hug.
This is a photo of a white greeting card, where the cover shows two triangle blobs, collaged bits of paper. They are pink and each of little “feet” made out of other colorful bits of paper. The left one says “I got new shoes!” and the right one says
